My '88 8HP Evinrude has always run flawlessly. Started it this weekend and it started rough but ran at medium speed. When I tried to run the RPM up, it bogged down and quit. Restarted it and it would rev up as long as the choke was pulled out 1/2 way. Still wouldn't rev up to full RPM without bogging down.

Got it back to the dock and cleaned the fuel screen which had brownish-yellow curds on it, almost blocking the screen completely.

Took it out and had the same symptoms as above. The fuel had Stabil in the fall which ran through the engine before fogging.

Seems like some of the crud got into the carb? Any other ideas? If the carb has the crud, what can be done?
