I read this about removing the tiller grip from the arm (I need to replace cable or innards of the grip, + also the plastic adjuster sleeve at the other end of the cable):

"There are two plastic tabs opposite each other that you slightly push in simultaneously on the grip. At the same time, thread the idle adjustment into the handle that is on the end of the grip. The grip then slides off."

I scanned my '71-'89 omc deal w/no clues to removing grip from arm.. This one does have the tabs^, and I tried the above w/no success. I'm great at throttle rods/gears, but cables are 'new'.. :)

Any sage advice? Thanks.

OMC made a little special tool just for that. It was half mooned shaped and had a little thumb screw on the end of it. Still got one in my tool box. Some where ???
