I've had this outboard back in the woods for a while and decided to see if it ran. IT has low 90's compression and all else checks out (spark etc.) but won't start even with gas mixture sprayed into carb. Is that compression good enough to start these classics or on the border line?

Way too low, imo. Might try some 2-cycle in the cylinders and test again. Barring mechanical issues, might give you enough compression to get it running for a bit.

I've heard of a sheared flywheel key a lot on here. Guy I got this from a while back said it was locked up, but when I pulled rope it was not locked up? What do you mean locked flywheel key?

Read carefully-------It asks you if you looked at the flywheel key !----Do you understand what happens to timing when key is sheared , yes or no ?

Yes, because I remember you talkin' about it before on this site. I always thought it was a rare problem that happened to other people, but maybe it's my time......…..Haven't looked at it as it just snowed 8 inches and cold. Might get to it or wait til spring...
