80'S 70HP MERCURY TILT-TRIM

NOT SURE OF THE YEAR BUT HAVING PROBLEM WITH TILT-TRIM ON 70HP MERCURY. SOMETIMES IT WORKS PERFECTLY AND OTHER TIMES YOU JUST HEAR A CLICK WHEN TRYING TO RAISE OR LOWER. I CAN BARELY TAP ON THE MOTOR AND IT STARTS WORKING AGAIN. WHAT MIGHT THE PROBLEM BE AND HOW DO I GO ABOUT FIXING IT? THANKS DLV007@WMCONNECT.COM

I would test your selonoid switches or relays, whichever yours has. I am almost sure your motor would have selonoid switch. Hopefully someone else will verify.

selonoid is good. may be the wiring inside. there's just four screws holding the cap on.
