Force motors do not have a telltale.
The two holes in the back of the leg will spray a small amount of water.
You can add a telltale. see link

I always found submerging the lower unit in a barrel of water works better to test. A large plastic rubbermaid storage bin works well.
Muffs do not seem to fit well on Force lower units.
You can test your thermostat in a pot of hot water.
Also you may want to put a hose in the thermostat housing and flow water backwards through the system to clear anything that may be blocking it.
