Welp, last time out I had water, used bilge a couple times but also had three kids getting in and out so was hopeful. About 35 miles of running yesterday just me and then wife same. Kills me that after 4 or 5 runs with maybe a cup full at the end of the day, this. All that work, two cans of gluvit.

Have you resealed the drain plug and any thru hulls below the water line? Any other equipment down there?

All re sealed when doing the refit and it collects while planing and all thru hull above waterline when on plane. I'm going to put some water in today. When I first started this the water would not drain out due to all the gunk under the floor now that it is all clean hoping I can identify the suspected rivets.

Filled the hull up to floor, found one rivet previously 'fixed' from the PO with jb weld. About on drip every couple three minutes. So since the current leak is significantly less that when I started this I'm hopeful that the on plane pressure is taking in more water than the few inches of water in the hull sitting on the trailer.

That said, any tips on the removal of the jb weld crap plug without damaging the actual hull and having to scab in a patch.

I can grap a pic if needed.

Wire cup wheel on a dremel. There are nylon ones for something less aggressive, but even the steel will be relatively gentle compared to a wire cup on a grinder.

Interwebs say jb weld will soften with heat and can be scraped. Anyone hear of that.

Not me. I used it successfully to patch holes in my old Sea Nymph and it remained unchanged for several years right up until I sold that boat.

I think that’s what was on a bunch of my rivets. I used a scraper, like a screw driver with a wide blade at the tip and a metal cap on the handle, like a cold chisel. Some came clean with a few moderate taps at the edges, some shaved into a smaller dome that was hard to chip. I ground them down with an orbital sander till I could see the rivet, drilled it and hammered it out- let it take the JB with it. Then wire wheeled or sanded the remainder. I will touch up with Alumahawk.

20 miles of running yesterday got about a cup out so that on jb welded was the culprit. As anything else pops up I'll do as they come.

It was a good day. Total of 12 trailers combined at all four ramps. Mid 80s low humidity.

Looks like the black has something else over it. Is that transparent shrink tube? If so, it was missed on the red, but it shouldn't be too big of a deal with the heat shrink connectors.

Yeah, home. Was making a joke about not getting that free beer yet.

Ok, last idea because it doesn't even make sense to do it this way.

I see those two sections on the bench are both stripped, like you were going to use them as extensions in the middle of the wiring. If so, leaving them out would definitely count as a stupid mistake.

Doesn't make sense though. Just run one length from a splice higher in the tube.

You win by thinking stupid!

Just spliced the two original ends together. Worse yet, I did it again on the yellow wire right after I told myself at least I learned not to do that again....

As for all new, didn't have enougon 8 ga on hand plus all wires have spade ends in the head and there are three different types, two of which I do not have.

On the beer, I thought you might be complaining about the woman not preemptively bringing you one.

I will make it to upside down land one day, have an internet friend I've not met yet, know him for almost 20nyears now across a couple forums. His wife is finish, I have family in Denmark, we always miss that opportunity so I have committed to someday getting down there. The beer will come.
