Previous owner removed thermostats for this 1983 175hp V6.

Bought the complete kit as shown in this photo:

Since old thermostat was missing, I do not know what parts from kit are used, and exactly how they go together. Seloc manual (it's all I've got today) does not show breakdown of parts.

From the photo above, I've figured out the large black diaphram assembled with the 2 white parts using small screw (there was also a longer screw in kit for?). Old diaphram assembly and spring were still in place for reference.

Looking at other photos, it seems like small rubber (lower right in photo) goes onto thermostat between it and block, but which way does the "smaller" end of seal go, towards the thermostat as other photos show, or towards block as that seem to be the most correct looking on the actual part.

This looks like seal is installed backwards?

Last items are the tin cup and the seal next to it that fits perfectly inside the cup. Don't see them in motor. Are they used, and if so where and which way to install cup?

That longer screw used somewhere?

Thanks in advance!

Re: '83 175hp missing thermostat parts

Thanks, that will work!

It confirms the other photo's of thermostat and seal have seal installed backwards.

Funny that photo says Courtesy of Seloc Publishing, yet it is not in the Seloc service manual.

Edited and hour later:
Installed fine, and temps measured with IR Gun now at around 140, compared to 110 without..
Even though I'm in hot Florida, with water temps around 90, I have a 45 minute idle speed river cruise until I hit open water, so the thermostats should reduce carbon buildup so soon.
