1983 bayliner capri open bow 19 1/2 ft, AQ125A w/ 270 leg, running about 44-4500rpm with 14x17 VP prop (prop destroyed by wife) speed unknown because speedo works when it feels like it. Not too concerned with whether I'm breaking any records so never bothered to investigate. Replaced with 15x17 VP ,dia and pitch number on prop was not legible but VP number was and after a little search thats what it was supposed to be. I say supposed to be because it has a big stamped in 19P that I can only assume was put there by someone who reworked the prop. All the props came with the boat. Also have a 14x19. My question is: Is anybody out there running a 4 blade prop on a dinosaur like this and if so is it doing anything for getting a skier up a little handier? Gonna buy a new 3 blade 15x17 Solas to replace the 14x17 the wife took care of(local VP mechanic says 15in. dia. is what should be on there anyways) but for the reasonable price was considering also a 4 blade in perhaps a 15P...I'm always pretty watchful of the RPMs so not too worried about the over rev issue. I tend to carry alotta extra weight in the boat between people and ice chest and all the other crap that piles up when we leave for the day. We do alot of water sport stuff so I guess thats what this post is all about: Helping an inexperienced and/or out of shape(wife)skier the best pop out of the water with my NON powerhouse of a boat. Any input or personal experience would be appreciated. P.S. All props are AL. and will stick with AL. SS worries me cause I've always been of the mind in the event I hit something I want to replace the prop and not the drive. thanks
