I had trouble starting my motor the posts of the battery got very hot but it finally started. I ran it all day with no more problems starting and stoping 4-5 times during the day .I got back to the dock to pull it out then it would not even turn over no click or anything jumped the starter with another battery starter spun. Is this just a celonoide problem or is it something to do with the coil or what?

Warm or hot battery posts would indicate high current draw. This is confirmed by the dead battery at the end of the day. I would suspect that the high current draw is caused by either cruddy electrical connections or corroded wire or both. I would check all, starting with ground for the motor and then the power side. I would also check every connection in the starting circuit (starter, solonoid + wires). Even if a connection looks good you may not be able to see the crud.

From the battery to the wires you need a large surface to transfer the current. I fixed the problem by adding brass marine terminals to the battery posts.
