83' johnson 20hp. 2sk. wizzing great but very hot

hello everyone GREAT SITE><br />not much of a inclined mach.,but need to know <br />new water pump ? or thermostat?<br />old owner used land 2 cycle oil, I drained and cleaned carb it starts but need to choke 3/4 to idle any problems still of use of land oil.<br />thanks/

Howdy and welcome, used motor. <br /><br />First, get yourself a Service Manual.<br /><br />Replace the water pump impeller and overhaul the carb with special attention to the tiny passages into the carb throat.<br /><br />Then do the Linkage and Synchronization procedure.<br /><br />If you have any problems with the manual or after the above maintenance, come on back and we can get you through the rest.<br /><br />Good luck.
