83 mercury no compression one cyl.

I have a 1983 mercury 70 hp yesterday the motor stalled on the lake and it is running rough now i did a compression check and the top cylinder is reading 0 psi. is it a piston, gasket and how much work am i looking at or price to get it fixed.

You need to tear it down and look at the damage. This will give you a better idea of the total dollars needed to get back on the water. If it is tore up on the inside, you may be better off buying a newer used engine for less money.....
