I have tinkered with this boat for the last two days, just trying to make it turn over. When you turn the key nothing happens except the voltmeter drops down to around 10.5 amps. no clicking or clacking from the starter, no sounds at all.

I banged on the starter with a few medium wacks of a hammer, tried again and nothing. looked at the terminals on the starter and they weren't too bad but i used a wirebrush to clean em up anyway.

The voltage regulator (ceramic peice, assuming i'm calling it the right thing) gets warm when i tried a couple of times last night.

Any ideas? wanting to make some headway today or i'm gonna have to take it back to the guy and look elsewhere.

Make sure the batter is hot.First try turning the motor over by hand.A socket on the harmonic balancer should do the trick.Jump the solenoid on the starter to make it turn over.If that doesn't work then remove the starter and put the juice to it.
The ceranic block on the ignition drops the voltage to 9 volts so the coil won't burn up.It just means the ignition is working to that point.J
