'84 - 115HP Johnney won't idle down

The Engine runs like a top. But throttle won't return to idle after throttle-ing upeother with shift lever or throttle lever. Happens about 6 out of 10 times. Cleaned and well lubed control arm on side of engine. No difference. You can move the arm back to idle easily(with a little effort actually) <br /><br />Had it in the shop in spring. Mechanic said this was normal.(alright I believed him) Getting worse and staying at higher RPMs<br /><br />Advice anyone?...I'm about ready to swap to black paint. Never had any problems with a Merc!<br /><br />Thanks in advance

Sounds like the rollers inside your control box are wore out.<br />There is also a spring loading on the main throttle linkage arm that may be gumming up on you...this spring mechanism can only be cleaned properly by being taken apart-no biggie, just gotta keep track of the parts.<br />I suspect the control box is a big part of this issue though...<br />EDIT: Black paint has issues as well......don't give up yet.
