Hey yall, new to the forums. My apologies if this is in the wrong section.

I inherited this 84 sea Sprite with a 3.0 omc mercruiser. Things were winterized correctly, and has stayed winterized for 2 seasons. This season I was able to start getting this boat ready for the lake thanks to the Corona virus and being out of work. I recently found a seized starter and removed for rebuild/replacement. Like an idiot I did not take note of what wire went where. Thanks to the forum I was able to sort it out and now the engine cranks over. I currently do not have spark or fuel. I specifically remember a loose purple/black tracer hanging about the side of the engine. To my research this is the feed for the ignition coil, however I do not know where this ties in. My assumption was the left small lug on the starter solenoid, but I do not have any 12v reference going into the coil. Anyone know exactly where this is supposed to go? Boat ran well when winterized, took it out myself for the last run of the season sonic have a feeling this is just a wiring issue. Any assistance would be much appreciated. Not exactly sure how to post photos through a forum once I figure that out I'll post pictures.

Thanks
Greg

you dont have spark because you did not service your points

file the points
gap the points to .018"
verify your dell is between 28 and 32 degrees with a dwell meter
then set your timing

Ayuh,...... Welcome Aboard,..... So which is it,..?? That's like sayin' ya got a Chevy Ford,.....

The wire from the outside tiny terminal on the starter's solenoid goes to the coil's (+) terminal,.....

'n like Scott says, file, or replace the points, as they fire the coil,.....

As of right now, it has a new coil and a new cap ( was new in a box of spare parts) I now have 12v on both lugs of the ignition coil. To my knowledge isnt the positive terminal of the coil only supposed to see around 5 volts? And nothing on the opposite side? The points have not been touched as of yet I know I will have to adjust. I dont have any sort of life coming out of the coil its self yet.

So how would I determine what things are? Just off tags?

Adjusted and cleaned all parts, still no spark. Have a spare distributor, goin to swap a few things around and see if there is any change. Appreciate the help so far
