I just got an 84 force 15 and I don't know its fuel mixture. I bought it not running and with minor work to the kill switch it fired right up. However, it seems to not want to idle, I think it's carb probably needs a little attention, what do you think (it spits and chatters and wants to stall when I let the throttle down)? Also it was pumping water but not as much as my old 56 evinrude 7.5 that was on this boat... does anyone think it needs an impeller or does it just not pump as much as an older motor? Another thing I noticed is that I can shake the body of the motor and it moves about 3/4 of an inch apart from the tiller handle (and support) is supposed to do this? If anyone has this motor could you try to duplicate this? I did try it out on the lake mounted on smaller (not very wide or deep) 14 foot boat and it does plane out and it goes at a healthy speed for the boat (about 20). However, it has a 3 blade prop and I want if its a bit much pitch for this boat because it did seem to accelerate slowly at top speed and bog a little in turns I don't know if it had revved out all the way (I thought it would rev more) this boat will be used for duck hunting so it will carry allot of gear any thought on props for this? Thanks allot.

First get a ser. manual. If the motor has been sitting you should go through the fuel system tank to carb.Check clean and rebuild as required.
Dont mess with prop until you are sure everything is good with fuel system and ignition.
Be sure motor is trimmed to best angle and height on transom.
Unfortunately you have taken a step backwards with your Force. It is an orphan with no factory parts support.NAPA lists 12 pages of Force/Chrysler parts compared to 87 pages of E/J parts.
Force has a reputation for poor performance and reliability.I would sell it and get an E/J,
Merc. Almost any motor with a dealer near you.

I should be able to help you with a factory service manual, parts catalog and parts for this engine. We closed our dealership and are selling the remaining inventory at prices below dealer cost. Send model number and list of items needed to: Email: linda@nu-z.net
