84 johnon 50hp , lower end

looking to change the bottom end seals in my johnson, prop is off , removed two 8 mil bolts from down inside , Do I have to thread out the assy or is it a press in and out ?? There are threads in the housing so I asume it threads out . Should I try heat ? AM I missing a bolt or two ...

I assume you are doing this because of a leak? Water in the lower unit?<br /><br />Most often, the fill/drain plug seals are at fault.<br /><br />Just checking.

its leaking down the shaft by the prop , I have taken off prop and now found three bolts, I have re inspected the threads and they are grooves posibly not threads , will I need a puler to get this out ????
