84 Johnson 35HP Has no spark

I have an 84 35hp that ran like a champ for years and then left me stranded with no spark any troubleshooting ideas or suggestions would be greatly appricated. I have checked all connections and the fuse; thank you.

If remote controls unplug main harness at large red connector , you have spark then bad harness or switch. Still no spark check engine harness for bare spots, next stator, pack, timer sensor. If you get good spark 1 cylinder pack , coil , wires are problem.

thank you, I will try your troubleshooting ideas in the morning. I had to replace my controls 2-weeks ago and I'm familer with the big red connection
