Re: 84 MERC 25 HP NO SPARK

i had a similar problem where my '95 25 hp would not start. i had spark on one plug and an irregular spark on the other. turned out to be a coil.
I'm assuming you have verified that you do not have a spark on either plug by removing plugs with wires attached and grounded them and then checking for a consistent spark on both plugs by pulling the chord or turing over by the starter. If you get a spark on one but not the other then swap the coils up. If the problem changes to the other plug. Then it would probably be like mine and be a coil. They are about $30 each.

If you don't have a spark on either plug check that your on/off switch may be grounded some where. if it's not a ground problem your over my head and in to a few more $$$$.

It very well couild be. Check the cheap stuff first. On the switchbox, find the black wire with a yellow stripe on it, and pull it. This will disable the entire kill circuit. check for spark.I ignition has been restored, check kill switch, ign switch, safety switch, merury tilt switch, and black/yel stiped wire harness for short to motor ground).
