84 Mercruiser 120/2.5L timing/fuel question

1984 Mercruiser 120/2.5L Getting ready to start first time with a fresh rebuild. Reading all timing specs. The manual has a date of 1986. The fuels available today are not what they were in 1984 or 86. All fuel in N. Texas is heavily ethanoled.

What should timing be set to "today" for this engine and today's fuels? What fuel should be used? Is Regular OK or should Mid Grade be used? Premium?

Ayuh,...

I'd start with the standard settigs,+ regular gas....
