84 Mercury 150 trim problem.

84 150 with the control box that has a trim switch and trailer button.
For some reason the engine will no longer trim up at all from any position by
the trim switch.
It used to trim up from fully down by the trim switch to a certain point to keep you from trimming to high while running.
Now it will only trim up from any position by the trailer button.
The engine will trim down fine by the trim switch.
The power trim works smooth with no problems other than the switch.
Any idea whats going on?

Your trim limit switch is open circuit, or your Up button is not making contact.

Where is the trim limit switch located?
I understand open circuit and have an ohm meter to check it with.

I jumped the trim limit switch wires together at the motor
and now it works fine.

Thought I would update this post so info will be here for anyone who
later does a search.
I pulled the trim limit switch on left (driver) side of the engine and found
the tab broken off of the switch.
This would not allow it to turn as the engine went up or down.
Replaced it with one from a spare motor and works fine.
