Did you set the float correctly? They can be a pain to set some trial and error can be involved. Keep lowering it until the fuel stops coming out.
Did you buy the carb kit that had the fuel pump and primer assembly. The primer can sometimes cause that to happen if it's old and cracked. Or the check ball has pushed into the spring.
