My tilt motor needed a bash with the hammer to get it to work so kind of tired of that, I was going to order a new motor but after removing and taking it apart I found out the brushed was barely making contact. My johnson dealer just happen to have a old stock set of brushes so cut the braid and left a bit to connect the new brushes, wrapped the joint with fine copper wire and solder it all up. worked like a charm. So FYI if your retired and cheap like myself. the brushes were $18.00 if I get a year or so I guess its worth it.

Yuppers - I've had both my trim and tilt rebuilt in the last couple of years. A LOT cheaper than a new one!

I cant believe how fast it comes up and goes down now, almost scary. so used to it dragging slowly up and down. Means it is working so good I hooked up a remote switch at the stern to operate it as well.
