since i have been having some powwer issues, (engine is getting work done now), i thought i would ask you guys a question. my brother is saying that my boat is problably waterlogged? when i first bought it a year ago, i hit 35mph no problem with a stainless prop. i changed to aluminum because of a lot of bay riding, and lost some speed. now, also, my carbs are being rebuilt right now because one was leaking gas. what do you guys think? waterlogged , or she just needed some maintenance?

one more thing, why is there so much "foam" in my hull. i totally rewired recently, and saw a lot of foam???

thanks everyone!!

What size engine or you running? The foam is for flotation and it can get water logged.

I think the reduction in speed was mainly due to the prop change. Does it seem to come out of the hole better now? What is the size of the prop your running now and what or the rpm's a wot?

lakerunner has it on the nose. Usually folks go from alumnium to SS and notice an improvement in performance. You went the other way. The results are to be expected assuming you have the same diameter & pitch.

i forget the exact diam and pitch, but the loss of performance was more than expected i guess. maybe it was a coincidence that water was leaking into the engine at the same time i switched props? my luck i guess. ill give you an update after i get the boat back. seals are being replaced and the carbs are being rebuilt. thanks for all the feedback!!

You also have to cosider prop style. Not all props are created equal.

Good luck!
