85 235 HP Johnson Outboard SHIFT BOX HELP!

Hey all i am so close lol, this should be one of the last posts! was wondering if you guys can shed some light in this little problem i am having. I bought a teleflex shifter box and 2 teleflex cables. i am trying to install the cables and haev them installed on the box. But when i try adn install them on the motor it seems as if they are backward. my motor needs to have the throttle pushed and these cables pull.. also my shifter pulls then pushes so it seems that it wouldnt be able to go into fwd. please shed some light thanx. I did it the manuals way and a few ways i found on the net but i cant seem to get enough adjustment out of the cables. thanx.

Are you sure that control box is spec'd for Johny/Rudes? Some other motors have the pull to throttle up configuration.

i think thats what i got, it said universal and it has OMC markings for fittings.

Well, that's a good sign. Try posting a picture, it's tough to know how to help you unless we know exactly what you've got. A picture would go a long way.
