Runs good hooked to water hose but when I put it in the water it will not go over 2000-2500 rpms. Changed plugs and wires, Just bought the boat and old owner told me the oil mix which seemed crazy 4.5oz/gallon. I have checked the exhaust tube for clogging. I haven't been able to find manuals on it either. It has the internal hydraulic tilt system. Any help on parts, manuals, suggestions????

Fuel mix should be 50::1, so 16 oz oil to 6 Gal gasoline. Old owner steered you wrong.

You will need a service manual. Online is avail, but if you are like me, paper works best.

Your problem could be caused by several issues, but likely not by the too much oil in the fuel. Your motor should have six coils. It will also have a stator to drive the ignition, which has high and low speed windings. The high speed winding could be bad.

Of course, the carbs could be dirty or adjusted wrong, the link and synch could be off, of the throttle cable could be adjusted wrong.

Do a link and sync first off and any time a carb is removed. My 175hp would run fine on the muffs but not do over 1500rpm in the water. The link and sync solved that.
