I bought a used 1985 Bayliner Capri and am in the process of remodeling the interior. I am finished reupholstering the seats and seat cushions. I need help in trying to figure out how to remove the seat backs in the bow of the boat and also the side storage compartments (the long compartments that run down both sides of the boat). I have pulled (easily) on both and can't figure out how they are mounted?

Can anyone provide and advice?

The ones you mention are screwed to the hull behind a seam. Pull off that metal like
strip and the screws should be revieled. Its the seat backs on the transom that I
can't figure out how they got attached. Lemme know if you have any more questions,
I went through this on an 86 this spring :)

Mike

Thanks - are you talking about the metal strip that separates the top part of the back pad from the multi-colored back pad on the bottom of the back pad? Same for the long storage compartments along the side of the interior of the boat?

Force,
I found screws in-between the folds in the vinyl on our Rinker. I had to spread the cushions apart and found a small hole in the crease. The screw was in the hole deeply in bedded in the crease. Look carefully.

Yes it is behind that metal strip or very near it.

I basically cheated when I did it. I levered them
off with a wonder bar, and reattached with stainless
steel lag bolts from the back having removed some
of the foam from behind the fiberglass.

Like I said though, the seats against the transom
were a mystery :)

Mike
