I have a '85 Force 125 HP that has some problem when I give it about 1/2 throttle or more. It will power fine but every 10 seconds or so it will do sort of a kicking thing. It almost feels like it loses power for a quick moment, then has full power again causing almost like a bumping action. Unfourtnately my tach doesn't work so I don't know the RPM that this starts at, though it's at about 1/2 power.

Also I'm not sure if this would be related but it sometimes stall if I'm just idle or when I put it in gear (I think I might have to adjust the idle a tad to make it idle a little faster)

Any help is much appreciated.

Before you adjust the carbs, replace the plugs. That sometimes cures all. If that still doesn't help, make sure your cam is adjusted properly. Then try to adjust the carbs. Make sure any carb adjusting is done in the water. It's the only way to do it accurately.

Do a thorough decarb on the engine before adjusting carbs. This should be done regularly with your Force.

Then clean out your gas tank and fuel line. It sounds like you have water in your gas.

The decarb process:

Your intent is REMOVE the existing carbon buildup from the cylinders, heads, and rings. A spray decarb solvent product is needed. Buy at least 2 cans of decarb. Some people use one can per cylinder.

Run engine at fast idle, with engine running, slowly spray liberal amount into each carb,
spray some more, spray a larger amount into carbs until engine chokes out and stops,
remove spark plugs and spray decarb liberally into each cylinder, install the spark plugs, let it soak for 1 to 10 hours.
Start the engine and run at medium throttle, or if at the lake, run it at full throttle. It won't hurt to spray some more through the carbs. Run it for atleast 10 minutes to flush the crud out of your engine. Now remove and clean, or replace the spark plugs.

I also have a 1985 125 Force. My motor had the same problem. The first time it was the clutch dogs. It had the same symtoms about a year later, but the last time it was in the shifting cable adjustment. I would start with going to the lake and playing with the shifting adjustment.

I too have a '88 Force 125HP on a 19' Capri, and it recently started to hesitating and cutting out at WOT. I cleaned the carb's with Sea Foam Deep Creep spray then replaced the fuel diaphragm and gasket ($4.70) which took about five minutes. The original Diaphragm had stretched out and was not delivering the fuel at higher RPM's. Runs great and it was simple. Try this before touching any carb or timing adjustments. Best regards
