Hey guys, thanks for all the great advice so far, I need your help one more time. My motor is having a hard time starting, and once it gets going it will idle for about 5 seconds then die suddenly. Even if I get it going and I give it a lot of throttle to try to keep it going, it will run for another 5 seconds or so, then it will die all of a sudden. Not sure what to do from here and anything would help.

Thanks!

Install a clear fuel filter between the fuel pump outlet and the carb inlet. Fram G2 model from walmart costs less than $5 and even comes with hose clamps. After installation, prime the fuel system to fill the fuel filter or until the primer bulb becomes firm. Try running the engine with the cover off so you can monitor the clear fuel filter. It should stay at least 1/2 full on all engine rpms, otherwise you have fuel delivery problem.

Start with a compression and spark test.
Then clean the carbs.
Do what Jiggz suggests.
Rebuild the fuel pump and replace all the hoses and squeezie.
Make sure the hose is Ethanol resistant.

I recommend doing the easy and cheapest diagnosis first, i.e. clear fuel filter. And if you proved that there is fuel delivery problem, we will focus from there.
