Hey guys ive got a 85 hp 1989 force was at lake yesterday and saw blue smoke coming out from under hood i took the hood off ond the engine was full of water i found the problem it is the rubber boot where the water exits the engine engine 9( idle boot or whatever its called), anyway i just orderded one off ebay for 15 bucks but my real question is the engine would not idle it kept dying, does that have some kind of nessecary back pressure for the engine to idle properly or do i need to address another problem. engine runs fine at partial throttle and wot just wont idle. i just cleaned the carbs about 2 months ago so i dont think thats the problem I live about 2 hours from the closest lake i would hate to waste the time and money if i have another issue other than rubber boot, thanks in advance.
