When I touch a screwdriver to a part of the outboard, I get a spark. I was told that it is the spark plugs and/or spark plug wires because that is the only thing with enough juice to cause a spark. Any more Ideas??? Thanks

Which part? If you touch any metallic part will it shock you?

What Tx Duck said. We need a little better description of whats going on. If it shocks you then pull the cowling off and see if it still shocks you. A lot of those V4's had a bad habit of shorting the lower sparkplug wire to the hood latches in the rear.

Better description....when I touch the metal on the engine...ie..bolts by the throttle cable...with a screwdriver, I get a spark. I even saw a spark when I shifted it in gear (the metal on the shiftercable where it is attached on the engine) grazed a screw. I am going to replace the plugs and check out the plug wires. Any other ideas? Thanks

Even when the engine is off and the key is off I still get a spark when I touch the screwdriver to bolt or any metal on the engine.

Look at the routing of your positive battery cable.

Is the insulation rubbed through somewhere? Particularly where it is crimped as it enters the engine.
