85 hp merc lower unit

HI I want to know if the lower unit from a 1967 85hp will fit a 1975 85hp merc.<br />If it wont will the drive gear it's the only part thats bad in my lower unit.

The gearcase should fit. The internals may not be the same.

if you know the serial numbers for each engine you can go to www.mercruiserparts.com and look up the junction between parts to see if they're the same part numbers.<br /><br />For example, if the exhaust housing will fit on the bottom the powerhead they'll have the same gasket. You'll have to check more than just the gaskets though.

thanks for the help I canb find the numbers for the 1975 but I don't know the numbers from the 67.<br />I'm buying this boat from a deller but they can't find the pinion gear to fix it.<br />so I found the 67 lower unit on ebay.<br />he said I could look for it to and maybe get it done cheaper.
