Given all the problems with E-10 fuel and the difficulty in finding non-ethanol fuel these days, I am thinking about installing a replaceable filter-fuel-water seperator on my boat. Does the fuel pump in this 25 HP 2 stroke engine have the strength to pump the fuel through the filter-seperator or would this be overkill for this older generation 2 stroke? Opinions appreciated.

I think what Corm posted is just the fuel filter. It will not separate water from fuel. I just bought a used boat with a 50 hp 2 stroke. There is a fuel selector switch (2 tanks) as well as a fuel/water separator. There are no fuel delivery problems to speak of with mine, so I would imagine you would be okay as well. Good luck!

Hi,

The filter by design will act as a separator and separate the water.
I've dumped water out of a lot of them.
Granted not a lot of it, but the fuel pump on a 25 will not handle a
large canister separator anyway. (in my opinion)

The simplest solution is to siphon the low spot in your tank once in a while to remove the water that accumulates in your tank. Then you do not have to worry about it.
