just picked up what i believe to be a 77, looks very clean, but has no tilt/trim. if i were to use mercury setup ,is it just a matter of replacingthe 2 shock/ram assemblys with 2 hydraulic assemblies[and the attendant remote pump assembly], or is it the whole mount assembly that has to go. would a cmc possibly be a better way to go?

You are right a Mercury trim replaces the shocks and not the whole swiwal bracket, as far as systems I guess it depends what you have available to you

It is likely you will need the trim/tilt brackets as well. The T/T rams are longer than the stock shocks.

No, the mounting bracket is the same. Just the hook up of the trim cylinders is different. The center of the trim/tilt brackets bolt to the upper shock mount with 1/2" SS bolts. The top of the bracket has a 3/8" SS bolt that connects to the top of the trim cylinder. The bottom of the trim cylinder attaches to the lower shock mount, with a 1/2" SS bolt.
