On top of what I will call the starter is a small cog that is suppose to raise and engage the flywheel when trying to start the motor. This is not happening and I was wondering what the problem could be.The nut ontop the spring spins when i turn th key,but wont raise to engage with the fly wheel. The battery is good so I know that lack of juice is not it. Anyone have any ideas or suggestions?

Try oiling the bendix drive. On most of these the gear needs to be able to slide up and down easily, the centripetal force of the starter throws it up against the spring into the flywheel gear. It may just be stuck and in need of oil.

Is there a pin where i can pump oil in there or do i need to take the starter off to do this? Thanks for the info.

I don't know that particular engine but you should be able to drip or rub some motor oil on it and then run it up and down with your fingers.

Hey Jimd. I wanna thank you for your help today. But that wasnt the problem i was having. Here the battery cable was coroded in the middle of the cable and it wasnt giving it enough juice to make the shaft come up. Everything works great now. SO thank you for your help again.
