Well i am back, after a few months of madness and mayhem at work.

Several months ago i started stripping and repairing my charger 85 ( you may remember the graphics i designed and had made for it ) well at about that time everything came to a halt.

So i have just now got back to carrying on the rebuild, so far so good, block / leg etc all back in place, and coming to fit the gear shift, first problem, the pivot bolt seems very long, i cant remember anything being tagged on the end of it just i have 1/2 inch of thread showing through. Second problem i remember where most of the plumbing goes, ie puddle valve round to carbs, but i noticed on the air box that there is another drain off point, where the hell does that link to or is it just down the leg for excess oil etc to drain off.

regards

OK, so i think i worked out the missing lines, could some one confirm i have them right.

from the air box intake bottom to the bottom carb by the reed valve, guessing that it is for sucking up spent oil / fuel that dribbles out the carb mouths when the engine stops or overfuels on the odd occasion.

Re: 85hp charger

Well things have moved on, got to start the engine today, set the initial timing following Franks fantastic post on link and sync, and i apologise Frank but also kept looking at the clymer manual, so flick the switch and the old girl fires up, BUT cant get it to tick over less than 1500 rpm, so start reading again and find that the book says in the supplement that i should use the 25 to 55 side of the depth gauge out and not the 70 to 140 side if the engine is after 1976, mine is a 1979. SO my question is should i use the 25 to 55 side ?

and for my piece of mind,
1) set the top piston to 30 deg before TDC,
2) turn the dizzy wheel so the mark lines up with the fly and the dizzy turned full advance,
3) set the tower rod to 5/8 ths on the adjuster from tower to dizzy
