The #24 Jet tight and use Lock-tite to keep it in place.

One of the top posts in this forum has a link.
Called a link and sync. I think FrankA produced it.
Follow his procedures and the linkage should operate the way it's supposed to.
The shifting or adjusting, the propshaft should be turned when doing ANY adjustments.
Not turning can bind and bend and even break the linkage.

The need for starting fluid, if the compression or spark is off? it can cause hard starting?
Also if the lower unit's dragging it can cause hard starting.

Sometimes a stuck float or not having the idle set right can cause hard starting.
Also the longer you mess with it the harder it can be to start.
Every time you crank it over, it feeds gas/oil into the cyl.
The gas evaporates the oil doesn't.
Then it builds up more and more.
Then it gets a shot of SF and smokes like crazy and won't run very good even with new plugs.

So until the sludge is burned out, it can be a B to start ??/

RPM's at idle, in the water in N 1100-1200
Rpm's at idle, in the water in F 750-800 not tied to a dock but moving.
Rpm's on the muffs. 1100-1200
Then adjust when it gets in the water.

Air screw, (factory recommended) turn in and then back out 1 full turn and leave there if it runs ok.
Some won't run like this then adjust as needed.

Update:
So I took the carbs back off and adjust the floats so that they hung a bit lower (when properly positioned with the bowl side down) and put the carbs back on. I noticed that I accidentally put the carb with the throttle screw on as a the second carb when it should have been at the bottom, so I just switched the screws (the one that the throttle pieces pushes down on in order to open up the throttle).

Took the boat out and.....probably got like 8-10mph out of it AGAIN at full throttle. I definitely have some room on throttle to open it up more so I might play around with that linkage that can be extended/shortened that pushes the throttle open, but I am still stumped. Maybe I adjusted the floats too low or maybe it's a fuel pump issue now. Sounds like I am not getting full RPMs either.

How many rpm's at wide open?

Run with the cover off, have someone open the throttle by hand as you try to accelerate.
