85hp force carburetor float replacement

First post but have used this forum for about 10years when working on my 1987 VIP with an 85hp Force. I recently had the tab break off the float of my top carburetor. I have a friend that said he could "fix it" and long story short is I need a new float. However this is a discontinued part both the Mercury F10135 and the Serria 18-7205, and I'm having issues finding a replacement. I plan on calling a couple of local marinas tomorrow and pray they have one, if not does anyone know of an alternative float that would work?

Is the motor the same year as the boat?
The motor blue or white?
Blue means it's at least an 87 white is 86 or older.

The motors should use the same float, but just making sure.
