Yes I recently bought a 16ft Starcraft with a 85 hp Johnson outboard had to rewire all lights and horn replaced steering components and bought new fuel line and tank. And I got it to run on muffs on land but couldn't get to run in water had it run once in water and when I started to push warm up lever down it died but then I realized had a air leak in the fuel line and so I pulled it out and replaced it and got it all sealed up put a new fuel pump on it when I tried to take it out again I was able to get it to run on the ramp but when backed into the water it would kill the motor every time and would only fire couple times when trying to start it in water has new fuel 50:1 just don't understand what it is that's not allowing it to run when in water any help greatly appreciated

You ran the motor dry on the ramp ?----Big mistake if you did.-----Step #1 is to post the compression numbers here.------If this motor sat for a long time with fuel in the carburetors , they could be gummed up.-----Clean the carburetors before your next launch attempt.----Replace water pump impeller too.----Test the overheat warning horn.
