85merc35hp lower unit troubles please help

other than the shift shaft and the mouning bolts around the cavitation plate is there anything else from keeping the lower gearcas from comming off?

Rusted driveshaft within the crank.<br /><br />TMD

You must also remove the trim tab (triangular shaped thing underside of ventilation plate in the rear) which will reveal one last nut/stud... Bolt to remove the trim tab is an Allen head, 3/8" if memory serves, accessed through hole in rear of exhaust leg.<br />- Scott
