Ok, I know nothing of this particular boat, just trying to get it going for the summer.

Baught the boat, guy said it was running good and in the water this year. Launched it and it ran good, for maybe 20 minutes. Shut it down went and got a bunch of gear to head out and it has no power...wont plane and it bogs over half throttle. The only things i did to the boat were change the bottom end oil and engine oil.

First thing i noticed was one spark plug was loose (was threaded all the way in but not tight could turn it with my fingers) They were some type of champion plugs in there not gapped or anything. I got new plugs (NGK br6fs) and gapped them to .35. it seemed to go good for maybe 5 minutes, then again intermitent power loss. Sometimes youd give it gas and it would come alive then next time it would bog out.

Few observations, seemed to be pinging a bit under bog. Also, smoke/steam from the flame arrestor.

Any ideas are appreciated.

Start with the basics. Full tune up. Cap, rotor, condensor, points, plug wires. Set timing. Change your fuel filters.

The steam/smoke is probably coming from the crank case vents on the valve covers. Not the carb itself.

Mine was running badly intermittently also. It ended up being an alternator on its death bed. Check your voltage at the battery while running. Looking for 13.5-14.5.

Good Luck
