My son has this motor ,while idiling and to half throttle it is fine,but when he goes over half throttle the motor jumps in and out of gear almost like its hitting bottom ,but thats not the case.Any help would be welcomed .

The cogs on the shifter and forward gear are worn. Common problem on older motors than that, but sure sounds like the exact symptoms. He'll need a new forward gear and shifter<br /><br />What happens is every time the motor is shifted into gear, the corners of the mating cogs have a bit of metal knocked off. That's why it's very hard on a motor to ease it into gear because it knocks off several miniscule chunks. It's much easier on the motor to clunk it into gear quickly so that it only does that once.
