TROLLS PERFECT BUT WILL NOT RUN AT FULL THROTTLE.<br /> EVERY 15 SECONDS OR SO, AT FULL THROTTLE,, THE FOURTH CYLINDER KICKS<br />IN FOR A SECOND THEN BACK TO THREE CYLINDERS.<br />I CHANGED THE 4 PLUGS. NO IMPROVEMENT.<br /> IS THERE A HIGH SPEED JET? COULD IT BE PLUGGED? <br /> 99% OF THE TIME I TROLL. I HARDLY EVER, PROBABLY NEVER <br /> USE HIGH SPEED BUT IT WOULD BE NICE IF I NEEDED IT..

I would look towards the coil on that cyl. Also what did your plugs look like? My guess would be that that cyl. was wet if it is a coil. Also check the compression. Bad rings or a blown head gasket would not pull the fuel to that cyl.

THANKS,<br /> PLUGS LOOKED GOOD. I'LL DO A COMP. TEST AND A PLUG FIRING TEST. HOW ABOUT I TRY A CAN OF CARB. CLEANER IN THE GAS?

adding carb cleaner to boat gas...? Not a good idea.<br /><br />Gasoline & oil mixed properly is plenty flammable to run your motor. If the carb was bad, "both top cylinders" would be acting up, not just one of them.<br /><br />Suspect the coil or top main seal like the others are suggesting.

THANKS 326. NO CARB CLEANER. I CAN CHECK COMP. OK BUT NO IDEA HOW TO CHECK THE COIL AND MAIN SEAL. MAYBE I BETTER LEAVE WELL ENOUGH ALONE<br />AS IT TROLLS SMOOTH ALL DAY. IE: IT'S ONLY HALF BROKE SO MAYBE I BETTER NOT FIX IT.

Check for fire on the suspect cylinder first. If it's dead, swap a good coil from another cylinder and see if it fires.

MARINER 86 4 CYL. 45 HP,<br /> BOTH VOLT METERS ON MY BOAT READ UP TO 15.9--16 VOLTS AT 3/4 THROTTLE AND 13--14V<br /> AT TROLL SPEED.<br />ISN'T THIS WAY TO HIGH. I HEARD 13--14V WAS ALL IT SHOULD EVER READ.<br /> BAD ALTANATER,-- BAD REGULATER?? WHERE DO I START?
