I have a 86 4 horsepower johnson deluxe. I was trying to change my impeller today I have no experience in outboard. But the job seemed easy. So I drained the oil. Took out three bolts. And went to remove the lower end. And it seems stuck on. Locked in or something. Its loose enough that it seperated the seal. But just wont come off all the way I tried lighty prying with bar. But nothing g happened. Any help would be great. Did I forget a bolt somewhere?. Its the long metal shaft on that Is stuck

Peak inside that separation and you should see the shift rod connector. Remove the lower screw (don't worry about dropping it) and the unit will come off. When you re-install it, be sure that the shift rod connector screw goes thru the indent on the bottom of the shift rod.

It might need to be shifted into a different gear to give you some more space. Best of luck. Rick.
