Hello everyone. I rebuilt my 86' 85hp force (856X6m) Carbs this week. Middle carb is spitting fuel out as shown in the pic. took it apart and rebuilt the seat again. started fine but when I bumped it up it started to spit again. Does anyone have any info on what I am doing wrong?

Did you change both the needle and the seat?

There are two typs of needle and seat, some of the carbs has a rubber tip at the needle and a brass seat, some have a o-ring in the seat and a steel tip at the needle.
You have not mixed this up?

Check the float level if it is to high, the level of the float should be parallel with the casting edge when turning the carb upside down.
Blow air with your mouth through the fuel intake line when carb is upside down and the needle should seal.

If this do not solve the issue there is still debris in the fuel/fuel bowl as it spitts out from the vent hole.

Reset the floats.
Did you replace the floats?
If it spits?? then the reeds might be damaged?
Pull the carbs and inspect?

My carb issue turned out to be a tiny speck of paint chip trapped between needle and seat (barely visible; didn't take much to lodge the needle valve in open position)and that led to the discovery of my floats were severely out of adjustment. After I corrected these very inexpensive issues the motor runs like new. Good luck

Install a small particle filter between the carb and the fuel pump.
Fram G-2 G-3 G-12 any one will work.

Thank for the advice guys. it appears that I have a small hole in my Float. can't find them anywhere. ordered a used carb set off eBay so I can use the floats. Is there a new part number for these floats? someone has to make them.

PS. I do have a small fuel filter on that line. I just ran it straight for testing. also, I did a complete rebuilt on the carbs with new needles and seats on all 3. it is the nasty tiny metal O ring type. Thanks again.

Depending on the location of the hole? You might be able to solder it?
I've never seen a replacement float that actually worked :(

Someone was selling a white plastic float that had no way of adjusting it.
