86 and 87 225 johnson visual differences?

I know this may be a little bit of a pain and most may figure why bother but its killing me not knowing exactly what year my one 225 is on my Dixie. I've done a lot of exhausting research and I'm confident its either an 86 or 87. I have an 88 and it uses the type 2 CDI with single pack. The one I'm IDing has type 2 also but duel packs so its older. Everything i can find in print says the 225 replaced the 235 in 86. I've removed all electrics and connectors under the CDI as a lot of you had suggested to see if the model # was stamped in the block and it not there on either of my 225's. I was wondering did both the 86 n 87 run the VRO2 system an did they both have duel CDI packs. I figured if the 87 had a single like the 88 it would be an easy ID. If not any one have any other differences between the two you could suggest. Thanks

The 86/87 both had dual packs and VRO and they are a smaller bore(3.500)bridgeport block where the 88 is a big bore block(3.685). Post the casting numbers off heads and that can tell you if it a 86/87.

Thanks faztbullet I knew there was a block difference at some point I just didn't know the years. Here are the #'s off the heads 331490-2 and the CDI packs say 583605. If any one could match em up for me I'd appreciate any help. Thanks

Those are 2.7 heads and the 583605 fits both years and 200/225 hps...
