i bought this boat last week, thought i was gettin a good deal. took it for a test drive and it drove good and scooted right along. it had the original back to back seats in it and planned on tearing them out and putting in a pair of pedastals to open up a little floor space. well i started that project the day after getting it home. found out the floor was rotted. ok no big deal, i'll just redeck it. didn't plan on redoing the bow, once i got up there and seen what the previous owner had done it had to come out to. he had laid plywood over all the original stuff. had 4x4's all over bracing everything, foam was totally saturated. so it all came out, today i got to looking at the transom and of course that's gotta come out to. i'm going to work on getting the cap off tomorrow after work. the good news is that this thing should fly when it's all done as it'll be 1,000 lb's lighter.

i didn't think of taking pic's until today, but here they are.

well today after work i got the engine off, all the rivets drilled out, the cap removed, most of the transom out, and the stringers cut back. the thing looks huge inside now. it's kinda scary how much the sides move with out the bracing from the floor and the cap. it also amazed me that the transom is not doubled up, just a single layer of 3/4" plywood. it'll save me a couple bucks but i figured it would have been double 3/4". it got to dark for pic's tonight, so they will come tomorrow. hoping to get the rest cleaned up tomorrow and start dryfitting stuff on wednesday. one question though, should i glass up the few bolt holes in the transom and redrill them after it's done or just leave them?

If your going to reuse the bolt holes then I would glass them over and redrill.

You have got a lot done for only having her one week.

well i didn't get as much done today as i had hoped. wife had a couple of things for me to do when i got home. i got alot of stuff cut back and started grinding away at stuff. didn't get alot ground down when the backing plate for my sanding disc grenaded, that put a end to that for tonight. hopefully it'll be totally ground down tomorrow. i gotta get me some resin and epoxy pretty quick so i can stay movin. it's going to get interesting soon as this will be the first time i've ever messed with fiberglass. anybody think i can have this thing back into the water by the fourth?

dorelse, do ya mind tellin me where you got that rear bench seat. i would love to set the rear of this boat up this way. sure looks easier to get back into the boat, and it would get the kids ear's a lil farther away from the engine. thanks.

on edit, i forgot to post my pic's. it was gettin dark so the pic's aren't that great.

Great start my friend. Now you just need to get some overalls and start grinding.

well i spent the night grinding, almost half done. got a bit of a itch, but that'll happen when yer not wearing a shirt. no pic's tonight. i plan on getting the rest of the grinding done tomorrow and then start making some templates.

does anybody have an idea how much material i'm going to need. i planned on buying local but no one has anything in stock. i would like to make one order from uscomposites and have everything i need to get this done. time is ticking fast to get this thing splashed by the fourth of july!!!!
