I just bought a 1986 bluefin royal line with a 70hp Evinrude that seems to run well it appears it needs a full restoration floors council and transom first thing I’m wondering if it’s worth the headache and secondly what it the best materials to use for the the floor and the transom

I'm ranked at just a "Petty Officer" right now and I'll give you my opinion. It really depends on a few factors: if you can do the work yourself correctly, have the time, the money for the repairs, or LOTS of $$$$ if someone else touches it. When it come to anything wood involved, moisture is your enemy and it has to be sealed off! There are lots of DIY's out there, but follow the pros's techniques if you plan on keeping the boat..

Structural areas: brush on a thin epoxy coat to soak in and get a good seal, then do your glassing
Brackets/screws/clamps: high-grade stainless

frustratedboater I think its an aluminum boat

Little to no fiberglass work to be done on most aluminum boats

Hawdawg marine, exterior (NOT PRESSURE TREATED), MDO (NOT Medium Density Fiberboard) plywoods or Coosa are all possibilities for a good, durable, long lasting transom and deck (floor)

yes it is an aluminum boat only wood is floor and transom I have the ability to do the work myself I have the money for materials who honestly ever had enough time lol i figured motor runs good and don’t have much into it at the moment it would probably be a nice lil boat restored but I have not done something like this before and wanted to ask around instead of opening up a huge van of worms and not want to finish the project from what I’ve read on it it doesn’t seem to be that big of a deal to replace all the wood in the boat
