I need some help. I bought a 86 Johnson 110 motor with 16 foot boat. I took it to the lake, cranked up fine with a little smoke. I opened to full throttle it only gives me 2500 rpm and wasn't planeing out of the water. Took it home and ran some tests. The compression in all 4 were 120psi, fuel parts look good with good sparks in all 4. But noticed that the sparks were thin and yellow. And also noticed the bottom two plugs had no residue on them, like if thay were new. Also noticed that the recifier wasn't johnson, but chrysler part. And noticed that the voltage regulator wires were cut off. Could this be the problem for the weak spark in all 4 plugs. Any advice out there...Thanks

Ps, I think this motor was put to gether to make it run, to sell.

I would get the factory manual and start going through it, rebuild carbs, check lower oil and follow test procedures for the elecs.
Maybe try swapping coils to see if the problem follows the coils, get a spark tester. Clean coil grounds, test coil wires.
With good compression its worth keeping and fixing.

Its pathetic what people resort to , just for money, theres a new dis-ease goin round.

Affluenza.
