Hello from Norway

My 86 Johnson 90 hp VRO gives about 8 volt at the gray (RPM signal) cable.

I have bought a Faria RPM meter and have tried all the different settings at the back of the meter.

The meter shows RPM up to about 3000 RPM. After that it drops dead.

The VRO oilstystem is disconnected and I have followed the gray RPM signal cable to this unit. There was 3 cables a, b and c. RPM was C.

1. What is correct RPM-meter setting?
2. Should there be more than 8 volt signal.
3. Could the problem come from the unused VRO system?

André

Disconnected VRO should not cause problem. Are you using peak reading meter to check voltage ? 9 volts -+1 at 1000 rpms.
