hey guys... just bought a "new to me" 1986 Gt150 - compression appears good (85-92 throughout) but i have no spark on the #3 (or middle port side cylinder) .... checked wires, coils... all that checks out... appears no spark is coming off the pack ... I'm fairly well versed mechanically but new to outboards so the question is this .... could no spark on just one wire be a power pack or is it more likely to be a bad trigger base? or is there something else i can try out?

many thanks for all the help gentleman (and ladies) :)

# 3 is on the starboard side.----Middle on port would be #4 cylinder.

That engine has two identical power packs controlling spark. One for each head. Swap them. If the "no spark" condition moves to the other head, replace the bad power pack.
